Description

This is a follow up to Case SR# 856289.

In Oct. 2017, City paving crew paved the city street on this block. However, they paved over the drains that outlet from our building: One is almost entirely covered up, the other is 75% covered up. This was reported last week to the City by my contractor, Bhaskar Welch (of Welch Construction).

The City then came by to dig out the asphalt blocking our drains. Only one was cleared, while the other one was missed by the crew. HOWEVER, this does not solve the problem; rather, it'd worsen the problem!! Now, all the surface water runoff from uphill will carry sediments and collect into OUR building drains, instead of the city drain at the bottom of the hill! The pavement elevation is too high! It is supposed to be below the flow line of our building drains. I think the City will need to create a LONGITUDINAL GUTTER that runs adjacent and parallel to the sidewalk curb all the way to the bottom of the hill to the city drain. This gutter should have a flow line elevation below the flow line of the building drains.
